A virtuoso drummer and his percussion group from Mali
Bassisdi Koné and Bwazan
Bassidi Koné was born and raised in a Griot family in Central Mali. He grew up with music and loved the balafon from a young age. The balafon is a gourd resonant xylophone, which his father played at a high level. The village songs and rhythms, passed on from generation to generation, are also part of his rich musical heritage. Bwazan is one of Mali’s leading percussion groups.
Precision and harmony, combined with energetic dance, describe this group of very talented young musicians and dancers.
From his culturally rich and vibrant homeland of Mali (West Africa), he follows in the footsteps of great artists such as Salif Keita, Oumou Sangare, Toumani Diabaté and Rokia Traoré.
Bassidi Koné and Bwazan have already brought their radiant spirit and awe-inspiring musical expression to Australia, North America and Japan. Europe is their next destination!
